Hi,
I'm currently breastfeeding my 1 year old baby. I just want to know if taking glutathione supplements will harm my baby in any way?
Thanks and I hope to hear from you.

Hello and thanks for your question!
First of all, glutathione supplements by themselves are generally ineffective as they're poorly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. So, generally speaking, taking glutathione supplements don't really increase the levels of glutathione in your body.
The best way to increase glutathione levels in your body is to simply eat a balanced diet. As long as you're getting enough glutamine, glycine and cysteine, then you're set to go! There's no real need to spend the extra money on "glutathione supplements". A multivitamin should do the trick much more effectively.
I have never read about any contraindication, per se, about taking glutathione supplements during breast feeding. But, because it's generally not effective as a supplement, it's probably not the best idea to take them, especially since it has never been verified by the FDA as a safe, effective supplement -- especially during pregnancy or breast feeding.
The best idea is to just have a balanced diet with multivitamins.
I hope this helps!!
Ryan
